We’re in Delph!!

After our month in London we decided that we wanted to move somewhere a bit more quiet and picturesque. While we love getting to experience the big metropolis that is London we found that we missed the soothing slower pace of a charming Northern England town. We have found the perfect place in Delph. It’s a town located in the Greater Manchester area and surrounded by the beautiful moors. We’ve been here a total of two days and we have decided to stay here until the end of May. The town has so much charm and I cannot wait to explore all of the hiking trails! One of the things that has always drawn me to England is the moors. My adoration most likely started in ninth grade year of English when I had to read Wuthering Heights. The way they described the hilly expanse of heather and the rolling hill was enchanting. When I finally got my chance to visit England and go visit the moors I absolutely fell in love.

Ever since that first encounter years ago I have never been more affected by a place than by the moors. So to be back and to get to live in this beautiful little town for a few months is a dream come true. We took a little walk along one of the public footpaths today, up to the top of a nearby hill and the view was breathtaking, and the wind had a delightful bite. My husband, who is Australian born and bred, is obsessed with the snow. He was very excited to get to hike in the snow today. It was a bright clear day and we could see for miles, I’m just as in love with the moors today as I was years ago when I first experienced them.

Yesterday, before we unpacked our gazillion suitcases and bags, we decided to take a walk to orientate ourselves with our cozy little town. We walked out our front door and decided to turn right which took us into town. We got to see the river that runs through the village and look at all the old buildings all the while surrounded by the high moors. We spotted all three of the pubs and the chippy shop. What else do you really need to find? I’ve never been more excited to call a place home and to be able to explore so much history and countryside!
